Overview of the Podcast
March 25 the Church celebrates the feast of the Annunciation We once again reflect upon the wonderful “yes” Mary gave to the Angel Gabriel about accepting life — life within her, her complete trust in God and willing submission to His plan for salvation.
Knights not only honor Mary on this feast day, we also celebrate the “Day of the Unborn” child. On this day Knights are encouraged to organize parish or community gatherings to show everyone that there is a strong support for building a culture of life in their area. Strength in numbers gives others the courage to speak up and also lets the community know there is a group willing to help women in crisis pregnancies. Let us pray together for life with Fr Dan Greving of the Sts Mary and Joseph cluster.
Iowa’s legislature is in session and there are initiatives underway which have the potential to save life – life within a mother still growing. I’m talking about the House file 573 which requires that an Ultrasound be performed and the image shown to the woman prior to any abortion. Ken Root found Jenifer Bowen, executive director of Iowa Right to Life and spoke to her about the importance of this measure.
Ultrasounds have been featured here before. There are several statistics that we hear about exactly how effective they are, but it’s clear that this amazing technology does makes a difference in saving lives of babies. So how do we make them more available?
I met Joe and Jane Dalton from Rolla Missouri. These wonderful people have committed their lives to saving lives by opening a pregnancy center. Joe explains how they got started.
Jane mentions that God pulls you in one little piece at a time. The Dalton’s didn’t stop with one pregnancy center. They continue to partner with Knights guiding them to be more effective in making ultrasounds available where they are needed.
Iowa Knights have decided to partner with the Dalton’s and will present a resolution at this year’s convention asking all of us to use our strength in numbers to unite and make it possible to save more lives in Iowa. Joe and Jane explain more about their experience in Missouri.
The Dalton’s have committed their lives to saving babies – so have the Knights. Together with Mary we will help Mother’s meet the life within and love God’s gift.
Our priests have committed themselves to serving God and saving souls. I met Fr John Moser years ago when he received Chaplain of the year from the Iowa Knights. I ran into him again in Lansing Iowa where he is pastor and chaplain for the local knights. He is deeply involved in the council there and a part of enlivening the men to continue Fr McGivney’s dream.
This week’s Knights to Christ segment focuses on the feast of the Annunciation.
We are a family friendly fraternity. Our principles are charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. We place God First and then Act to serve others in charity.
If you feel prompted to give something back and want to become more of the Catholic man you were hoping to be, join us as we make a difference serving our church, our communities and our families.
