This Week on Knight Life
Father William Reynolds shared with his friends: Easter is not just a day, it is a Day, an Octave, and a Season. Contemplate the great gift of Easter with this picture, the cover of an Easter card [he] received.
The Lenten Season concluded this past weekend with the Triduum our most spiritual worship of the liturgical yearl.
We rejoice in the risen Christ. We are thankful for the rebirth of the natural world in the spring season.
This week on Knight Life we see a the link between Knights support for the Priesthood and asking men to join our order. Knights engage in evangelization both outside and in the parishes we serve.
It is clear that Knights are called to work with our clergy to be the right arm of the church – both local and universal. It is equally clear that Knights need to encourage men to become Priests from among our own ranks.

We hear from a Seminarian from Garnavillo, Austin Wilker, who was studying Astronomy at Drake University when he realized what he was looking for was a stronger relationship with God. Austin began looking at the stars to be an astronomer and found God was there calling him to another vocation. He is now in Seminary and is focusing his life on becoming a priest and serving his fellow man and our holy Father. As a bonus Austin has a beautiful singing voice and we hear a sample.
It is good to hear from someone who is excited about life. Bob Jones is one of the most positive Knights you will meet. He lives in the Davenport area but will go wherever needed to help start a new council of Knights of Columbus; his help resulted in 3 new councils this year. Bob talks about how he approaches council formation and how important the priest is in encouraging formation and growth of Knights to be his right arm.
Neal Seuntjens, a Mapleton (Sioux City area) Knight of 45 years shares why he belongs and why he encourages his sons to be active Knights.
Our weekly feature, Knights to Christ speaks of Charity and Facing Difficulties to realize our strengths.
We are approaching a once in a lifetime event: Pope Francis will canonize two popes April 27th, Pope John the 23rd and Pope John Paul 2nd. How appropriate this will occur on Divine Mercy Sunday. Instituted by Pope John Paul both in his teaching and personal life, he strove to live and teach the message of Divine Mercy. In his writings and homilies, John Paul II described Divine Mercy as the answer to the world’s problems and the message of the third millennium.
May we celebrate it as John Paul II and John 23rd are recognized on earth as they are in heaven…Saints of the modern age!
Knight Life is a production of the Iowa Knights of Columbus.
